Quality & testing

Working tools first. Claims second.

Any File Type is built around a simple rule: a converter page should be useful because the tool works and clearly explains what happens to the file—not because a page contains a lot of search-engine text.

What we check before publishing

Production builds run automated checks for JavaScript syntax, canonical URLs, sitemap coverage, internal links, indexability, structured data, required controls and generated converter routes. Important converter and utility flows are also exercised with browser smoke tests, and mobile layouts are reviewed for issues such as horizontal overflow, inaccessible controls and broken result actions.

Representative file testing

Converters are tested with representative files for the format family they support. We check whether the browser can read the source, whether the requested output is created, whether the output can be downloaded, and whether important settings such as image dimensions, audio bitrate, video resolution or PDF page order behave as described.

What browser-based processing means

Current conversion and file-utility tools process selected file content in the browser. Supporting libraries can still be downloaded to the browser, and the site can receive normal web requests and usage events, but the selected file is not uploaded to the Any File Type backend just to perform the conversion. See the Privacy Policy for the current data-handling details.

Known limits are part of the documentation

File formats are messy. Codecs, damaged files, fonts, metadata, browser support and device memory can all change the result. We avoid claiming that a format conversion preserves features that the target format cannot store. For example, image conversion does not invent transparency, audio conversion cannot restore detail already lost to compression, and text extraction from image-only PDFs does not become OCR unless a tool explicitly says it performs OCR.

How search pages are selected

Any File Type supports many direct format pairs, but not every working route needs to be promoted to search engines at the same time. We prioritize converters with clear real-world use, strong compatibility value and specific documentation. Long-tail routes can remain available to users while we improve and validate them before promoting them for indexing.

Corrections and bug reports

If a tool behaves differently from its documentation, the documentation is unclear, or a supported file fails unexpectedly, email support@anyfiletype.com. Include the tool URL, browser/device and a non-sensitive description of the problem. Do not email private files, passwords or payment-card information.
