File problem guide

Image too large to upload? Fix the size without guessing.

Most upload limits are easier to solve by reducing oversized dimensions first, then lowering image quality only as much as needed.

Quick answer

Resize the image first, then compress it.

A phone photo may be thousands of pixels wide even when the upload form only needs a normal screen-size image. Reducing dimensions often saves more space with less visible damage than aggressively lowering quality.

Fix an upload size error

  1. Check the current dimensions.Use the resolution checker if you do not know how large the image really is.
  2. Set a smaller maximum width.Choose a size appropriate for the destination instead of keeping full camera resolution.
  3. Use JPG or WebP for photos. These formats usually compress photographic content more efficiently than PNG.
  4. Lower quality gradually.Compare the result visually before uploading it.
Need exact dimensions?

Check image resolution and DPI before resizing.

Need to remove empty edges?

Crop the image first so you are not compressing pixels you do not need.
